That won’t happen, folks. Perfect never happens in anything. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t strive for it, but if you’re waiting around for it before you do the next thing, you’re hurting yourself, and too many people do that. Anthony Lamacchia here with Crush It in Real Estate, and I’m going to talk to you about how you need to stop waiting for perfect to do something else that you know you should be doing. Guys, I talk to realtors here in our company and across the country every single day of my life.
I had three calls yesterday with realtors on the West Coast, owners actually. Too often do I hear, “Yes, I know I need to do this but I don’t want to do it or get started until I get that perfect. I know I need to do that but I don’t want to until I have this perfect.” Guys, you’re going to wait around forever. Nothing is ever perfect. It’s like personal life too, “I don’t want to do that until this is totally perfect, until that’s totally perfect.” Guys, you’re using it as an excuse.
Take the excuses and throw them out the freaking window. There’s no reason for them, all right? Get the BS out of your head and take action. Yes, you should strive for perfect. Yes, you should reach for perfect, constantly, but you have to accept that you’ll never have it. When I look at our company here, we have several business lines. Relocation, not perfect. Tenants and landlords, not perfect. Property management, not perfect. Working with sellers, not perfect. Working with buyers, not perfect. Recruiting, not perfect. Marketing, not perfect. Guys, that’s business.
That’s business, but I don’t use it as an excuse to not go on to the next thing. Another thing that I often hear with realtors is, “I know I should switch companies to this one or that one.” Not saying it selfishly for our company, others that I coach as well run into this. “I know I’ll do better there but I’m going to wait around until I have this perfect. I’m going to wait around until I have that perfect. I’m going to wait.
I’m not going to make a lot of calls, even though I know I should, until my database is perfect. I’m not going to do until my CRM is perfect. I’m not going to start working on sellers until I master buyers. I’m not going to start working with this company until that company.” [screams] Stop. Just move forward. You know what you have to do. All right, guys? That’s all. I hope you get the point. I’m going to talk in more detail about this over the next week, but I wanted to talk big picture first. Forget it.
It’s never going to happen. Yes, strive for it but it won’t happen. Do what you need to do and move on. Thanks, guys. Have a great day.
