Anthony: “I’m just not good at that. I’m not good at this. I’m just really not good at that.” Stop saying that. You’re telling yourself you’re not good at something, that is not good. When you tell yourself you’re not good at something, you’re going to be not good at it. That’s how it goes. That’s how life is. What you believe up here in your mind is what ends up being true.
I can’t take this idea of Lindsay Favazza our VP of marketing was saying she’s heard a few agents say that to her just in this last week where they’re like, “No, I’m not good at tech. I’m not good at tech.” That seems to be the most famous comment that we hear out of realtors. It’s like, “If you keep telling yourself, “I’m not good at tech,” you will not be good at tech and you will continue to not be good at.”
How about, “Listen, it’s not my strength but I’m going to learn it and I’m going to be good at it”? When humans decide to learn things, when humans decide to do things, they do it, they execute, they learn, they make it happen. Imagine if you knew that in seven days, you could no longer eat unless you got good at Facebook, unless you got good at emailing from your phone. I don’t know. I’m making up silly examples but you get my point. It’s the determination that you’re missing.
When you tell yourself, “I’m not good at it,” you become not good at it. That’s just the way it goes. You got to change your mindset and look at it differently and identify the areas in your business that you’re weak. If it’s tech, tackle it head-on. What if every single day you cut out half an hour, you cut out an hour to literally dedicate to learning the tech, and learning how to do it the right way, and you make that a priority seven days a week for weeks on end until you get it down?
Nicole says mindset matters. She’s 100% right. What you tell yourself is what’s going to happen. Again, I have to shout out Lindsay Favazza for this idea because she’s the one that pointed it out to me, I was just reading an email from her. Birds are really chirping this morning. Lindsay’s the one that pointed out the idea and I think it’s a really good one. Or pointed that out as a problem so I wanted to talk about it.
That’s all. I’ll be coming to talk to you guys at some point this week about masks. I will be back. Have a great day. Enjoy your Sunday.
